Program fees

High school and college-age students: Updated 13 December 2011

The total cost of the program is approximately $4200.00 and divided into two payments. The first payment of 2500 U.S. dollars is due upon acceptance into the program; the second payment of 1200 euros (currently, 13 December 2011, 1 euro = $1.31) is due by May 1, 2012. Europeans may pay the total cost in euros.

IMPORTANT: Refunds after May 1, 2012 will be reimbursed at seventy-five percent of the total paid. Refunds after June 1, 2012 will be reimbursed at fifty percent of total paid. After all, IJAM has held a place for you; it would be difficult, if not impossible, to fill that position at such a late date.

Included in the program cost: tuition; room (bedding and towels) and board (breakfast, lunch, and supper) for twenty-one days; jazz theory text; college credit authorization (if requested); and all program-related transportation within Italy.

Not included in the program cost: airfare, medical insurance, instrument insurance, entrance fees to historical sites, laundry service, private instruction if so desired, and fees charged by universities for credit hours.

Scholarship Program

There is one full-tuition scholarship and one half-tuition scholarships available. Scholarships do not include the price of airfare. Scholarship awards are based on financial need as well as skill. Applicant must be between 16 and 19 years of age (16th birthday prior to June 28, 2012 and 20th birthday after July 18, 2012) and be sponsored by a local civic organization. See 2012 Scholarship Application.pdf.

There are two $1000 scholarships available to North American students that do not require the above scrutiny. They are part of a broad-based program to assist parents with the increasingly high cost of international travel. Contact Executive Director Dr. Peter Barbieri for further information (303) 473-9992.
