Adult jazz camp

Have you played jazz in the past and are interested in re-kindling your passion and experience with playing music and mastering your instrument, while learning more about jazz theory and small ensemble jazz performance? During the three-week camp, you will perform at least six concerts in hillside towns nestled throughout the pastoral region of Molise.

Do you have a natural curiosity for other cultures and world-views? Do you love travel, incredible food and wine, and historical sights? Have you dreamed of experiencing the beautiful countryside, beaches and coastal waters of the Adriatic sea? Have you ever wondered what it would be like to live in a small Italian village near the Adriatic with rolling hills, vineyards, olive groves, endless sunflowers, beautiful vistas, incredible regional food and warm, inviting people?

The ijamjazz jazz camp is not restricted to traditional high-school and college-aged students; we have students of all ages participating in our unique blend of musical and cultural immersion. As an adult participant in the camp, you not only share in many of the experiences the younger students enjoy (foosball optional!), but also have unique opportunities for touring the local countryside, visiting operating vineyards and olive plantations, as well as learning about historical and modern life in Italy.

Adult campers have multiple choices for accommodations including local B & Bs, rooms in the restaurant where campers have breakfast and lunch, and small regional inns. Of course if you would like to join the young campers in standard rooms at the converted sixteenth-century Franciscan monastery (il convento), you are welcomed to do so.

Spouses and significant others are encouraged to join our adult campers. While you attend classes and ensemble sessions (M - F), IJAM has organized several excursions for your mate: trips into the Molise countryside, visits to local historical sites, lunch at family owned trattorias, playtime at the beach.

In addition, adult campers can opt to attend for one, two, or three weeks. However, for those who wish to attend camp for only one week, the performance possibilities are limited.
